Some Thoughts about Shopping
I started the finish 10 product before I buy something new at the end of December, when a combination of Black Friday Sales, Pre Christmas Sale and the beginning of Good Ol’ winter depression took their tole and I just felt I was getting out of control with spending money on make up.
The project was a big failure, because I didn’t stop shopping, not for a second. However, I did...

Out with the old - we are #1
Yay! I finished my “don’t buy anything till I finish 10 products” project. It was mostly an epic fail, because I did not stop shopping, however I learned some things about my shopping habits that I’ll share later on. Somehow shitload of stuff got finished at the same time (for various reasons…) and I was happy to put it all in one garbage bag and take it...

Operation Hobbit Feet
“their feet had tough leathery soles and were clad in a thick curling hair, much like the hair of their heads”
I don’t know about curly, but my feet definitely took a turn for the hobbit in recent months. A combination of dryness, many hours in muddy dog run, wearing socks 24\7 and not showering as often in winter as I do in summer took their tole and my sole turned...

Hit & Miss
Since Jack Black has left the building, and my lips are still dry, I had to go through my stash and find a replacement. The first thing that I found was Korres lip butter in Pomegranate. A light tinted balm in a beautiful warm pink. I got it maybe a year ago, used it can couple of times and forgot about it. It’s my first lip butter so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The texture is...

Out with the old
Boo, I hate being sick, and I feel like I’ve been sick forever, though really, it’s only been a week. Some horrible flu that just won’t go away and make me feel so listless and tried all the time I can’t get anything done.
However, a couple of shoot had to happened, a big bathroom organizing had to take place, and few fashion show attended. I finished 2 products who...

Out with the Old
It was a short love affair and now it’s over and I’m a bit heart broken. It’s not that I expected this to last a lifetime, but I really did not see the end ramming into me that fast.
So this is the story. About a month ago I got this wonderful product with 2 awesome nail polish colors from Julep maven box. It was love at first sight, and I adored everything about it - the...

La Vie La Mort
It’s very hard to write anything about perfume, I guess I’m used to describing the way things look, or I can always add a picture, but since there are now scratch and sniff screens just yet, I’ll just have to do my best.
One of the things I got very excited about last Black Friday was the Sephora $10 kits, and the only reason I ordered 3 of them and an eyeshadow brush I...

Color on the go
I always adore those “in the bag” posts some people do on their blogs. Not so much for the makeup collection, but for the courage to face the content of one’s bag. Mine is usually a big mess of paper, pens and other random items that somehow found their way in there.
But last week, an opportunity arise that forced me to clear out all the mess. Not to put too fine a point on...

Out with the Old
I guess it’s he dry weather, because I’m finishing all my creams and moisturizers. #04 finished post is again, 2 products. They are very different in any way aside of the jars being the same color and both finished last night.
The first is a ROC night cream, again a product I got through Klout Perks. I got in in the summer, used it for a couple of days, decided it was too rich and...

Something New
a couple of days after I finished my Neutrogena Serum and I feel I can’t live without it. I’ve been under some work pressure and I tend to be over dramatic this week, but really I felt like unless I start with a new serum, I will never be happy.
I read about serums, and asked for recommendations, and eventually decided on a L’Oreal Serum. So I decided to go and get it this...

Cheap Thrills - Jackpot!
Still reviewing products from my 5$ Duane Reade shopping binge and trying to decide if this was just craziness or if even in just picking stuff almost blindly and paying for them went better then I thought…
THe first experience was OK but not what I expected, the second was a total disaster, and on Friday I finally had a chance to check the 3rd. Trying to finish or even make a dent in 1...

Out with the old
Yay! I finished 2 products I had for a really long time in one day! and they are both going to be greatly missed.
The first is Arnold Blandi Dry Shampoo. This is the first dry shampoo I ever tired, and though the package said that this was for light hair, it worked perfectly for me. I really don’t like washing my hair too often cause it makes it dull and flat, so dry shampoo is a really...

Cheap Thrills - You win Some, you lose some
The second thing I wanted to try in my $5 shopping spree was Nutra Nail UV-Free Nail Color. I’ve never heard about this before, and never tired Gel Manicure either, so I was eager to see what this was about.
A couple of disclaimers I followed the instructions that came with the box, but later, checking their website, the instructions were different, so many there are ways of getting...

Cheap Thrills - Revlon Siren
Remember my Post from the other day about 4 things I got for $1 each? So I decided to review each to see if they were worth the spontaneous waste of a little money and the not-so-attentive thrill of the moment.
The first thing I tried was Revlon Siren, a lipstick that, in the tube looks like a saturated almost neon dark orange. I thought this might be one of those perfect Orange-Red.

Out with the Old
Redken Forceful 23 Super Strength Finishing Spray is excellent. It’s inexpensive, hold really well without making the hair heavy or sticky, and smells really good.
I’ve had this Travel Size spray bottle for over 2 years now, and the reason it lasted so long is that I forget to use it! I fix my hair, get all happy and making it look reasonably tame and then by the time I get to where...

Cheap Thrills - the end of a shopping binge
So, as said, a decision to not buy any new makeup till I finish 10 products disolved into the abyss of Trade shows, DR. appointments and sending invoices to clients - all horrible activities that makes me want to either burry myself in ice cream or go shopping.
And so, last week I got new foundation and 2 lipsticks. Then after another bad day, I found myself at Duane Reade Just wondering...

E.L.F - the good, the bad & the Ugly
I’ve mentioned before how much I love E.L.F, there are 2 main reasons. The first is no animal testing and no connection to some mother company that does animal testing (I should be more aware of that, and I’m not, but it’s nice o know that some of what I buy is Cruelty free).
The second is the prices. It’s all just so cheap and on top of that, they always have some crazy...

Wet N Wild CoverAll concealer in Light
One of those products that are all but perfect for a small flaw. Sadly, the small flaw makes it practically useless.
This canceler has perfect texture, easily blended and very affordable. There are only 4 shades, but the Light was pretty perfect for me.
What’s the problem than? It comes in a bottle that’s oblong, meaning wider and not round....

2012 favorites - Nails edition
This was a big nail year for me. I stopped chewing my nails and started actually caring what they looked like. Since I do work with my hands, I don’t expect anything too fancy from then, my fingers are my main tool-of-trade, and nails need to be kept short and functional. However, I do try to at least keep them clean and colorful.
Julep polish in Natasha I can’t even remember how...

The Right Red
As anybody who ever had a hobby that involved shopping knows, there are 2 types of shopping sprees - one is the educated spree, you research something, think about it, read about it and then go out and buy it and then there are the comfort sprees, you had a bad day, or you are feeling fat or whatever, and so you go out there and buy something, anything, to cheer yourself up.
The comfort sprees...

Happy Nails
I really don’t like the whole “happy colors in the summer, dark tones in the winter” rule. In the winter, when everything is gray and dark is when strong bright colors are the most needed. So I was thrilled when I saw that Julep’s Maven Box for January was going to be Neon and nudes. It was very hard to pick which box I wanted, but because I just finished my cuticle...

Outer Glow
I got this product a few weeks ago as a Klout Perk. It’s always nice to try something new, but with foundation, I’m a little cautious. My skin is not very happy or clear at the best of times, and experimenting with some products can lead to massive breakouts.
But what is CC cream anyway? my first inclination was that it’s exactly like BB cream but marketed to an older audience...

2012 favorites - Face edition
Warning - there are going to be a lot of E.L.F products here… I’m disappointed with their lips products, really hate their nail polish, indifferent to most of their eyes products, but LOVE LOVE LOVE their face products.
Maybelline BB cream - in Light I was very unimpressed with this to begin with, it made me look pale and a little gray, and didn’t have any lasting power. Then...

Soft Awakening
Early morning shoot, getting up about an hour to late - main concern is looking more awake then I feel. And so, my favorite look of the moment which include heavy black eyeliner is out of the question.
The main work was done with concealer and corrector and mineral foundation. But to add a bit of color and life I used E.L.F mineral eyeshadow in Miss Popular - a perfect purplish-taupe, or...

Love at first touch
How does one knows one is in love?!
There are lots of answers to this question when it comes to people, but when it come to product, I have a very simple method. I stop using it almost entirely because I’m scared it’s going to run out.
This happened to me with the new Julep hand and cuticle stick after I used it once! It’s very dry where I am now and yet, I found myself...

2012 favorites - Lips edition
My beauty idol for the year is for sure Michelle Harper. It’s not the hair (which is great) the innovative sense of style (which I adore), or what looks like the coolest life imagined. It is, those amazing mat perfect red lips.
I really want to have those all the time. Sadly, I’m not so good with make up, I’m very bad at remembering to fix it every couple of hours, and the...

2012 favorites - eyes edition
Since I really just started wearing (and buying) makeup this year, I guess those can also be called “all time favorites”, however, since I do have a commitment issue as far as makeup goes, I’ll call it the 2012 most used eye products.
Wet & wild comfort zone pallet I’ve got a massive amount of eyeshadow this year. It went from the the very very cheap - one of those...

My new BFF
My new best friend is Natasha. She is sexy, but no too sexy. funny, but not too funny and just easy going and fun to be around.
Also, she reminds of my mythological ex, a similar color I had from Essie and sadly, dried out and I throw out the bottle without writing down the name.
Two coats gave a beautiful opaque and super shinny finish. I adore this color and it’s probably going to be...

Out with the Old
I’m pretty sad to see Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle creme go. Usually toward the end of anything I’m so over it I can’t wait to toss it out, but this is different.
Bought on a total whim, at the grocery store no less, while heading to get my husband some cigarettes and being upset with him going back to smoking after over 5 years break.
So aside of to relife my...
Out with the Old
Yay! just finished another product and getting a step closer to my 10 products before I buy any more cosmetics. In the meantime, I’m trying to entertain myself with what I’m going to buy after this is done and also, discovered a nail polish swap group on facebook.
The product I finished today is a hand cream by Pre de Provence it’s smells of Verbena, and the smell is lovely....

Thank you Daphne...
No not Daphne Guinness, but Daphne 2150 from Julep.
You have given me the nicest paint job I ever manage to give myself, I love your thin but surprisingly opaque consistency and your skinny easy to maneuver brush. But more then everything, I love your color.
A little grayer and darker then China Glaze For Audrey. A color that’s somewhere between sea foam and teal. Really sophisticated...

Julep Maven Box
A lot of people who’s blog I follow get Glossybox or one of the other sample boxes services. I love reading about what people got every month and know whether they were happy or not, to me reading about it is just as exciting as getting a box myself.
Or maybe, more exciting. The more I follow those blog posts, the more I realize how much this service is not for me. if asked, I would say...

Christmas Nails
I got this China Glaze Christmas set along a big order I made from 8ty8 Beauty. The main reason was that the whole set was 4.8$ so there was really not much to loose.
Nothing here is super special, a really descent basic red, that’s a bit more berry then orange, but pretty much neutral (it took 3 coats for full cover). The Glitter one is a bit weird and I don’t think I will wear...

TokyoMilk
Up until a couple of months ago, I really hated perfume. I like the idea of bodies smelling the way they are, and I really hate that lingering smell of perfume when a person leaves a room. Add to that, the fact that every time I thought I found something that smells lovely and fresh, it turned out to smell like an old lady after 20 minutes or so.
I always thought of myself as a citrusy kind of...

Out with the Old
A little while ago, I decided not to buy anymore makeup or cosmetics till I finished at least 10 products. Stressing about the notion of no shopping, I bought on the same day hand cream, body lotion and 3 lip balms (which was a gift to my sister). Then it was black friday and I just had to get some stuff at Sephora and then got into some nail polish craze.
However. I’m swearing again...
Custom Kicks
I get it that companies want to be creative with naming their nail polish, but I wish something in the name would at least hint on what the color is.
This is my first experience with China Glaze polish. A couple of blogs mentioned the polish as great and pretty, and though the low price and the sad bottle design made me a bit suspicious, especially after a very bad experience with E.L.F polish...

Seche Vite
A couple of months ago Essie posted on their Facebook page an update that went something like “Your nails are like jewels, don’t use them as tools”. I have to say, I disagree, nothing in my body is too precious to use and between perfect nails and a peeled orange, I’ll take the orange.
Add to that the fact that I do use my hands quite a bit for painting, cutting,...
